Irwin Hirsh has worked in the pharma industry since 1998 in many different capacities. He began his pharma career working in a structure-based drug design group within the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (USA) and has since held leadership roles in both quality and development for Merck(DE) and Novo Nordisk. For many years Irwin was responsible for global implementation of Quality by Design (QbD) programs and aligning the approach to process validation across global manufacturing networks. Irwin also worked globally for GE Healthcare as a manager in the Fast Trak services group helping customers design and optimize downstream processes. He is now working as a consultant and focused on knowledge management and its application to automation and innovation in order to help companies define and realize the benefits of a “factory 4.0”

Define the realities of continuous processing: Is this just a buzz word? What do we actually mean?
Identify the key concern in disposable utilisation: Feasibility of SUT for Chromatographic Processes
Discuss the realities for SUT in continuous processing across upstream and downstream processes
Map out a plan to future adoption: examine where are we now and discuss where we want to go with continuous processing adoption and what we need to achieve to do this
